Fake Busters project in Slovakia
🚨 FAKE NEWS, WE’RE COMING FOR YOU! 🚨
We’re back from an exciting and transformative experience in Trnava, Slovakia, where we participated in the FAKE BUSTERS project! Over the past 9 days, youth workers from across Europe came together with one mission: to combat the growing threat of disinformation and fake news. 💻🕵️♀️
As part of the Bratislava Policy Institute’s initiative, this training was designed to arm us with the tools needed to identify, analyze, and prevent the spread of fake news in our communities. In a world where misleading information travels faster than ever, the need for critical thinking and media literacy is urgent, and we are now better equipped to meet that challenge head-on. 🧠💡
Some of the highlights of the training included:
🔍 Debunking Techniques: We practiced fact-checking methods and analyzed real-world examples of fake news, learning how to identify misinformation at a glance.
🖥️ AI & Deepfakes: We explored the role of artificial intelligence in the creation of realistic, but false, videos and images, and discussed how to educate our communities on detecting and questioning these manipulations.
🎥 Media Literacy Campaigns: Together, we brainstormed and developed campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of media literacy, with the goal of empowering youth to become critical and responsible consumers of information.
💬 Intercultural Collaboration: Working alongside incredible participants from countries across Europe gave us the opportunity to share diverse perspectives and experiences, making this learning journey all the richer. 🌍🤝
Coming to an end
By the end of the training, we walked away with more than just knowledge—we built new friendships and partnerships, inspired to continue this fight against fake news beyond borders. We’re committed to bringing these valuable lessons back to our own communities, where we’ll be organizing local workshops, launching online awareness campaigns, and collaborating with educators and youth groups to spread the message about the importance of truth and accuracy in the media. 🎯📲
